Defenders of Wildlife Campaign to Save America's Wolves: Meet Limpy -- Help Save Western Wolves

Have you seen this?

I voted for Obama and against Sarah Palin
because America needs to protect wildlife and their habitats.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has once again eliminated protections
for wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies.

He is NOT representing my vote nor do I feel he represents what the Obama administration
is symbolizing to the world- global consciousness, not self interest.

An awareness of the quality of life and all things living,
not power over and destruction.

Wholeness and unity not divisiveness and separation.

A love for all life, and
ALL GOD'S CREATURES

Living in "green" world that protects against global warming and shelters wild life is a paramount issue that needs to be addressed before we endanger and lose yet another species.

Eye On Palin: Stop Her Wolf Massacre

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFdijgMytUA

Governor Sarah Palin continues to push extreme methods to kill wolves and bears, seeking to eliminate hundreds of wolves this season through Alaska's aerial wolf killing program. Her state's Board of Game has even approved the killing of young wolf pups in or near their dens, a controversial practice that was illegal until 2008.

In June of 2008, under governor Sarah Palins wolf killing program,
gunmen in a helicopter shot 14 adult wolves near Cold Bay Alaska.

When they landed, the gunmen shot 14 wolf pups each in the head.

Brutal. Barbaric. Even illegal under Alaskan law.
A result of Sarah Palin's out of control wolf killing program.

Do you really want a vice president who champions such savagery?

Governor Sarah Palin: A Champion for Brutal Aerial Hunting

SARAH PALIN SUPPORTS SHOOTING WOLVES AND BEARS
FROM AIRPLANES
Governor is Strong Proponent of Controversial Alaska Program

Washington, DC - Alaska Governor and GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is a strong promoter of the aerial hunting of wolves and bears, a practice that has been condemned by conservationists, scientists and many hunters alike. It involves shooting wolves and bears from the air or chasing them to exhaustion and then landing and shooting them point blank. The animals, shot with a shotgun, usually die a painful death. The hunters involved in the program keep and sell the animals' pelts.

Here's a little quacker who knows who she likes and isn't afraid to show her devotion. Perhaps animals are here to teach us something.

Christian the Lion

YouTube - Christian the Lion - the full story (in HQ)

I hope life treats you kind and
I hope you have all you dreamed of
And I wish you joy and happiness but above all of this
I wish you love and I will always love you
Will always love you I will always love you

After the video Christian was never seen again.

Christian left the Kora Reserve in 1973. He made his new territory along the Tana river, but when the Wakamba herdsmen kept bringing their livestock to his hunting ground, he moved on. George Adamson said in his autobiography, "I used to count the days on which we hadn't seen Christian, but when they reached 97, I gave up recording them in my diary." Because a lion can live from 12 to 15 years in the wild, Adamson believed that Christian ended his days in the Meru National Reserve only a few miles up river.

As for the two guys, the Born Free Foundation tells me that Anthony "Ace" Bourke (referred to as Ace "Berg" on YouTube) lives in Australia as a lecturer and expert in the area of Aboriginal Art, and John Rendall lives in the UK and is a Trustee of the George Adamson Wildlife Preservation Trust.

If I Didn't Have Dogs

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.
My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.
All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.
When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.

When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door
without wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.
I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted,
without taking into consideration how much space
several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.
I would have money ....and no guilt to go on a real vacation.
I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put their
yet unborn grand-kids through college.

The most used words in my vocabulary would not be:
out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave him/her/it ALONE.
My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers.
My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere.
My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.

I would no longer have to Spell the words B-A-L-L,
F-R-I-S-B-E- E, W-A-L-K, T-R-E-A-T, B-I-K-E, G-O, R-I-D-E
I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.
I would not look strangely at people who think
having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.
I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading "mud" season.

I would not have to answer the question "Why do you have so many animals?"
from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get.

How EMPTY my life would be!

Pet Safety This Fourth Of July

Keep your pets safe this Fourth Of July!

When my niece Lisa was 8 years old, she attended a family picnic on the Fourth Of July. Everyone was having the time of their life, eating, drinking, relaxing, playing. And then the fireworks began.

Everyone oohed and aahed at the display. Except Otis, Lisa's uncle's mixed breed. Otis was getting upset at all the noises. Then came a loud "BANG", Otis barked, then bit the closest thing to him, Lisa's face.

Lisa was hysterical. Her mother wanted Otis to be put down. It was quite an unhappy ending.

Let's keep holidays festive and safe. Your pet has no idea what is going on. My Fritzl gets upset at thunder. He barks, shivers, then hides under the bed. I can imagine how confused and frightened poor Otis was.

To make a long story short, Lisa needed to have a series of plastic surgeries and scar revisions. Today, her face shows no history of the accident.

And Otis lived another six natural years of a happy life.

I have heard countless stories where there was much worse trauma. Missing fingers, eye enucleation, blindness, on both people and pets. And worse.

Here's some valuable articles on keeping your family, that includes your pets, safe and healthy during the festivals.

2008 Leap Year

2008 is a leap year, which means that it has 366 days instead of the usual 365 days that an ordinary year has. An extra day is added in a leap year-February 29-which is called leap day.

This is a great year to leap into a new more prosperous and healthy life.

Leap into new belief systems and leave the past behind.

Leap into love and really take the dive! (Watch out men! Women may make marriage proposals in leap years.)

Leap into the unknown and take chances.

What would you like to take a leap in this year and plunge yourself into?

Macaque Saved By Pigeon's Love

They're an odd couple in every sense but a monkey and a pigeon have become inseparable at an animal sanctuary in China. The 12-week-old macaque - who was abandoned by his mother - was close to death when it was rescued on Neilingding Island, in Goangdong Province.

After being taken to an animal hospital his health began to improve but he seemed spiritless - until he developed a friendship with a white pigeon. The blossoming relationship helped to revive the macaque who has developed a new lease of life, say staff at the sanctuary.

Now the unlikely duo are never far from each other's side, but they aren't the only ones to strike up an unusual friendship.

Save These Cats

Would you kill these cats?

Alley Cat Allies

Who is responsible? The vast majority of these cats are not killed by cruel individuals. They are killed because of an antiquated animal control system.

Feral cats are not socialized to humans. They are not candidates for adoption into homes. To put them into an animal control system is to hand these animals a death sentence.

A recent Alley Cat Allies national survey conducted by Harris Group reveals that an overwhelming majority of Americans — 81% — believes that leaving a stray cat outside to live out his life is more humane than having the cat caught and killed. And despite the public’s humane ethic, feral and stray cats are still being killed because of the operating policies of most U.S. animal pounds and shelters.
