There are only a few people in the world who have risen from ashes to acclaimed fame such as James Brown. He is being commemorated by his loved ones who have lived with his light for years. The Godfather had such an impact on healing his people that he will be forever revered. Who ever would think that 8 simple words would uplift mankind? "Say it loud. I'm Black and I'm proud." This simple chant was heard in concerts, parties, celebrations. or whenever one just needed to feel esteemed. The words were so catchy, everyone adapted them to their situations. Even me.
I can remember a time in my life when I called upon the Godfather's song to give me added support. A group of nurses were petitioning for better conditions in an institution against unions. As we nurses stood in alignment, we loudly proclaimed, "Say it loud! I'm a registered nurse and I'm proud" giving us the power to strengthen our support and conviction to our goal. Being more determined now than ever, we won our cause.
You have helped and healed so many lives. You are truly a world healer. Thank you Mr. Brown.
